In this presentation I will be reviewing the science and technology of bioinformatics, with emphasis on the strategic importance of the human genome project and its integration into areas such as chip-based expression analysis approaches.

I will further provide thoughts on how Asia can accelerate the development of home-grown bioinformatics, and leverage various resources in the US and elsewhere with an eye toward establishing the field locally.
