Abstract:

Continue with former study, author finds a new component, Hfq, of the V. harveyi and V. cholerae Quorum-sensing circuits. It mediates interactions between small, regulatory RNAs and specific mRNA, and these interactions cause destabilization of the mRNA of the Quorum-sensing master regulators LuxR ( V. Harveyi ) and HapR ( V. cholerae ). Then identified four putative sRNAs in V. cholerae by bioinformatic tools and find out simultaneous deletion of all four sRNAs is required to stabilized hapR mRNA. Last author propose that Hfq, together with these sRNAs, creates an ultra sensitive regulatory switch to control the Quorum-sensing mode.
