2. Profile Analysis in GCG (scan database seq)

   • Purpose
     • Create a profile based on the result of mutiple sequence alignment
     • Use this profile to search for databank sequences containing this profile.
   • Algorithm: weight matrix (better than a pattern search algorithm)
   • To create a profile: use profilemake (--- is a sample profile)

3. ProfileScan Analysis in GCG (scan your seq)

   • Purpose: Search for knonw profiles in given sequence(s)
   • Algorithm: weight matrix
   • Data file required: profilescan.fil (86 Kbytes)
